Today, Senator Tony Hwang issued the following statement on Governor Ned Lamont’s announcement of a $100 million state initiative, known as the Connecticut Innovation Clusters Program, supporting growth in cutting-edge technology industries in Connecticut. Administered by Connecticut’s Department of Economic and Community Development, the program will leverage public and private dollars to support companies producing next-generation technologies. According to the Governor’s statement, the program will prioritize funding for catalytic capital projects, with a strong focus on workforce training, economic development, neighborhood vibrancy, and regional stakeholder collaboration.

“As co-chair of the bipartisan Bioscience Caucus and a past appointed member of the Governor’s Workforce Council, I applaud Governor Lamont for recognizing Connecticut’s strengths in biotechnology, financial technology, manufacturing, and other key industries. This funding will provide a competitive edge for Connecticut businesses, fostering economic growth and job creation for our residents. Innovative and targeted funding mechanisms like this are precisely the kind of support needed to solidify our state’s position as an international competitor in the technology industry.”
