Sens. Harding & Martin: CT Must be Laser-Focused on Economic Growth

April 5, 2024

Sen. Republican Leader Stephen Harding and Sen. Henri Martin, Ranking Senator on the Commerce Committee, issued the following statement regarding recent comments by Fred Carstensen, a professor of economics and finance at the University of Connecticut, who said that the state can do more to support entrepreneurship and innovation.

“We agree: Connecticut must build on its economic progress. We cannot let this fritter away. We must be laser-focused on growth. Expanding our information-technology infrastructure must be a key part of that growth formula. Developing a digitally dependent economy must also be part of that mix. With that said, our economic development leaders must seize this near and long-term growth opportunity. We must work collaboratively – and aggressively – to make significant and positive action steps in this area. Republicans look forward to working on a bipartisan basis with the administration to develop our skilled workforce and make this exciting potential job growth our reality.”
