Sen. Seminara Applauds Advancement of Bill Strengthening Oversight of CT Summer Camps

April 18, 2024

Sen. Lisa Seminara today applauded the State Senate’s passage of legislation to increase state oversight of summer camps across Connecticut.

The proposal was drafted to better protect kids amid allegations of abuse and neglect at certain Connecticut camps. It now awaits a vote in the House of Repreentatives.

“Every parent in Connecticut should feel comfortable sending their children to a camp,” Sen. Seminara said. “Parents should know that their kids are going to be well taken-care of and that the camp is going to run in its most efficient and safe manner possible. This bill steps up state inspections of camps. It allows the state to deny someone the ability to open a camp in Connecticut if that person had a license revoked in another state. It also increases reporting requirements from camps on their programming and the safety measures they are putting in place. It is a good bipartisan product which will better protect our children.”
