CT GOP Senators: Fiscal Guardrails Must Not be Violated

Sen. Republican Leader Stephen Harding, Sen. Eric Berthel, Ranking Senator on the Appropriations Committee, and Sen. Henri Martin, Ranking Senator on the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee issued the following statement on the consensus revenue forecast.

“We are continuing to pay down on the state’s debt. We are able to do so thanks to the responsible fiscal guardrails that Republicans fought to put in place in 2017 when we had a tie in the Senate. Those guardrails are working. They have helped to control government spending. That’s why even the spirit of the fiscal guardrails must not be violated. Gimmicks are what put Connecticut into this massive debt hole in the first place. We must respect the taxpayers’ money.”
