Sens. Harding & Seminara statement on “highly concerning” Child Advocate report
March 13, 2024For Immediate Release
Senate Republican Leader Stephen Harding and Sen. Lisa Seminara, Ranking Senator on the Committee on Children, today issued the following statement in reaction to the Connecticut Office of the Child Advocate and Disability Rights Connecticut’s investigation into a group of state-approved private special education programs which has found that students were grossly underserved.
“This is highly concerning. And it demands action. The report highlights a lack of oversight, accountability, and safety measures. This is a bright spotlight on why reforms must be made on services for our most vulnerable special needs students. The safety of these students was put in jeopardy. That’s unacceptable. We must work collaboratively to fix this immediately.”
