Sen. Kelly: CT Democrats have “hit the pause button” on EV mandate…for now

Sen. Kevin Kelly today issued the following statement in reaction to Democrats in the Connecticut General Assembly joining the Biden administration in a retreat from their push to mandate the purchase of electric vehicles.

“Democrats temporarily hit the pause button on the California mandate. However, they have not abandoned taking away our choice on what vehicles we can buy and drive.  House Republican Leader Vincent Candelora and I fought against the Democrats’ mandate, and I will continue to stay focused like a laser on this issue.  This mandate is costly for poor, working and middle-class families.  Our electric grid can’t handle it. Urban and rural communities will be left behind by the California mandate, which is unacceptable.”
