State Sen. Jeff Gordon (R-Woodstock) is bringing the longstanding “Candy Desk(s)” tradition of the U.S. Senate to Connecticut’s State Senate by filling his desk with candy for lawmakers on both sides of the aisle to enjoy.

“It’s time to start this fun and cherished tradition here in Connecticut and I look forward to sharing candy with my fellow legislators,” said Sen. Gordon.

Senate.gov describes the tradition, started by Republican U.S. Senator George Murphy (CA), as “…the desk assigned to a specific spot in the Chamber is given a unique responsibility. For the next two years, the desk serves as the go-to spot for a quick burst of sugar powered-energy, and its occupant is responsible for ensuring it is stocked with an abundant supply of candy.”
