HARWINTON — Ilir “Lucky” Ziba was honored last week when a delegation of local dignitaries came to Harwinton Italian Pizza to present him with citations from both the town and the state for his many acts of kindness and support for thecommunity.

Most recently, over the holiday season, he donated 30 gift cards for pizzas to the Harwinton Food Pantry. First Selectman Michael Criss noted at that time that it is not often that families using the food pantry have an opportunity to go out for a dinner.

In presenting the town’s citation, Criss lauded Ziba for his “unmatched generosity and commitment” to the town and for his “ongoing contributions to town organizations and community events, including the food pantry, the Readers are Leaders program, the Harwinton Hometown Holiday celebration, the Savoy Gives Foundation 5K and the Senior Center.

State Sen. Lisa Seminara presented the General Assembly citation, introduced by herself, Sen. Henri Martin and Rep. John Piscopo. It conveyed the best wishes of the legislators to Ziba for his “many years of commitment to the children and families of the town of Harwinton.”

“You are an inspiration and leader to those around you,” it concluded.
