Senator Fazio Receives COST’s Town Crier Award for Defending Local Control and Advocating for Connecticut’s Small Towns

HARTFORD, CT – Senator Ryan Fazio (R-Greenwich) has been recognized as a recipient of this year’s Connecticut Council of Small Towns’ (COST) Town Crier Award. This esteemed accolade is awarded to state lawmakers who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and advocacy on issues about Connecticut’s towns.

Senator Fazio expressed his gratitude for receiving the Town Crier Award, saying, “I am honored to have been recognized by the Connecticut Council of Small Towns for my dedication to defending the interests and rights of our municipalities in Connecticut. It is crucial to prioritize the safeguarding of local control to ensure that decision-making remains in the hands of the community.”

Senator Fazio’s tireless efforts in preserving local control of our towns and cities have been widely acknowledged. Last year, he led a 23 hour debate against radical attempts to undermine local control in zoning and housing issues. His ongoing work to amend 8-30g to grant communities greater discretion in building affordable housing further underscores his commitment to empowering local voices over state and developer mandates.

“The government that governs closest to the people governs best,” Senator Fazio emphasized. “I will continue to fight to protect local control in the decision-making processes, not only for Greenwich, Stamford, and New Canaan but for our entire state.”
