“True Heroes” in Easton: Sen. Hwang, Lt. Governor community leaders celebrate $$ for EMS Upgrades
EASTON – Sen. Tony Hwang and local officials on Jan. 29 welcomed Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz to town to mark the state’s recent approval of $396,000 for the town of Easton to replace the septic system at the Easton Volunteer Emergency Medical Services (EMS) facility. Watch the video.
“This is very good news for Easton,” Sen. Hwang said. “This is about community public safety and saving lives. Every second counts. Preparedness is crucial. These volunteers are heroes. Upgrading the town’s EMS facility is a multi-step process, and these state funds are appreciated. Improvements to the Easton Volunteer EMS will support efforts that will save lives. I thank the governor and lt. governor for their attention to Easton’s needs. I will continue to work collaboratively with local and state officials as well as listen to our first responders in order to improve the quality of life for all Easton residents.”
Easton EMS Chief Jonathan Arnold has noted that this is a tremendous commitment from the state which begins the process of transforming a more than 100-year old building into a state-of-the-art facility. Officials believe this transformation will improve response times and save lives.
