Sens. Sampson & Gordon Commemorate 250th Anniversary of Boston Tea Party

December 18, 2023

State Senators Rob Sampson (R-Wolcott) and Jeff Gordon (R-Woodstock) today issued a statement in commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the historic “Boston Tea Party” protest against government tyranny on Dec. 16, 1773.

“What’s widely known as the ‘Boston Tea Party’ was not just a simple protest against government ‘taxation without representation.’ It was there in Boston Harbor where the spirit of America was proclaimed loud and clear, and where the colonists more and more recognized the values of freedom, self-government, and self-determination. These values are the bedrock of what our unique American system of government is built upon. Generations have fought and sacrificed for our liberties.

“This fight carries on today. We are proud to uphold these American values and to defend strongly every day your individual rights, parental rights, and medical freedoms as your state senators in Hartford,” they said.
