Chief Deputy Senate Republican Leader Eric Berthel (R-Watertown), ranking member of the Appropriations Committee, was honored as the “2023 Legislator of the Year” by the Connecticut Association for Healthcare at Home for his strong advocacy to pass legislation (S.B. 412) that eliminates Medicaid rate differentials between adult and pediatric complex care nursing patients, ensuring patients receive the same reimbursement rates.

“Thank you to the Connecticut Association for Healthcare at Home for this recognition. I was proud to work with their staff and engaged membership to get this bill over the finish line. Because of their daily advocacy over the past year, young patients with some of the most challenging conditions and circumstances can maximize their benefits regardless of age. Families should not have to worry about how they will fully fund their son or daughter’s care when they technically become an adult at 18. This bill addresses the need for parity with community-based care, and benefits both patients and caregivers,” said Sen. Berthel.
