Sen. Kissel Applauds Grant Award for
Windsor Locks-based Connecticut Fire Academy

Sen. John A. Kissel, who represents Windsor Locks, today applauded the announcement of a $334,789 grant for the Connecticut Fire Academy.

The grant comes from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) through its Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.

“Helping our firefighters receive the very best training and equipment is our shared priority,” Sen. Kissel said.  “These funds will be put toward providing training and equipment which will keep our firefighters safe and effective in protecting our communities.  I thank Governor Lamont, our congressional delegation, and FEMA for their continued advocacy on behalf of Connecticut’s firefighters and on strengthening public safety.”

The Connecticut Fire Academy is administered by the Commission on Fire Prevention and Control, which is a division of the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection. It is responsible for providing a state-of-the-art training and education facility for firefighters serving in departments statewide. Programs are offered at its complex at Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, and classes are also offered throughout the state at various locations.
