“I believe that it is one step closer to accessing better health care in our state,” said Sen. Heather Somers, of Groton, a top Republican on the legislative Public Health Committee, during a brief floor debate.
She pointed out that the legislation would also expand treatment for those who believe they have been exposed to HIV and would create a $25,000 fund to help uninsured people who test positive for the human immunodeficiency virus.
