Be heard and make a difference in lowering your electric costs with information from AARP CT, state consumer and community advocates
FAIRFIELD – On Thursday, Mar. 16, Sen. Tony Hwang will moderate a forum to inform the public on the status of the rate increase request and how ratepayers can make their voices heard. The forum will also share federal, state and local resources and supportive services for residents unable to afford the recent spike in energy costs.
“This forum will be of interest to seniors on fixed income as well as anyone who has been impacted by the infuriating utility costs in Fairfield, Easton, Trumbull and Bridgeport, who is sick and tired of rate hikes,” Sen. Hwang said. “This informational forum will help people to understand that they can make an impact and be heard on lowering UI electric rates to state regulators if they speak out. We want ratepayers’ voices to be heard and we want to help anyone who is struggling to pay their bills, so please spread the word and join us. This forum will also provide supplemental utility resources and supportive services for residents in economic distress.”
Thursday’s forum runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Fairfield Board of Education, 501 Kings Highway Cutoff, 2nd Floor, Fairfield.
Representatives from the state Office of Consumer Counsel, AARP CT, Alliance for Community Empowerment (formerly ABCD) will join Sen. Hwang to provide information on the rate process and available energy assistance programs.
