Sen. Lisa Seminara Joins Senate Republican Call for Government Transparency & Accountability, Unveils Better Way to Accountable CT Plan

HARTFORD – Today, Senator Lisa Seminara (R-Avon) joined Senate Republicans and local advocates to unveil a set of policy proposals called “A Better Way to an Accountable Connecticut” that injects transparency and sunlight into state government. Caucus members also emphasized the potential positive impacts of government transparency on the state’s job growth, transportation infrastructure, and the environment.

“I am proud to stand with my Senate Republican colleagues today in calling for an accountable Connecticut,” said Sen. Lisa Seminara (R-Avon). “I operate under a simple philosophy—where tax dollars flow, transparency, and accountability must follow. With historic amounts of federal dollars flooding our economy and state spending at an all-time high, we must ensure that funds are used properly, and the government is held accountable to the people it serves. The plan the caucus put forward today is truly, ‘A Better Way to A More Affordable Connecticut.’”

The plan, which can be viewed in detail here, includes initiatives to:

• Increase oversight and transparency of federal COVID-19 relief funds
• Establish accountability in overseeing federal infrastructure dollars
• Establish a Chief Accountability Officer to increase oversight of state, quasi-public, and municipal activities
