Urges public to contact him with reaction at www.SenatorGordon.com and at [email protected]

Sen. Jeff Gordon (R-Woodstock) today encouraged the public to share their thoughts on “A Better Way to Energy Affordability”, the Connecticut Republicans’ comprehensive package of policy proposals to reduce the cost of electric bills and make energy more affordable over the long term.

“The concerns and anger of families and businesses around our district are real. Energy costs have skyrocketed in the new year and people are making choices that they’ve never made before. This is not right. It is our job to fix it, and I’m proud to join my Republican colleagues to offer a thorough treatment for this energy crisis,” said Sen. Gordon.

“I hope that my colleagues on the other side of the aisle join us to make these changes for the better. We must act as soon as possible to deliver relief because people are struggling,” he said.

The policies will reduce energy costs for Connecticut families by over $362 million per year, saving the average household over $210 next year.  In the long run, the plan will drive down costs by even more and implement important ratepayer protections against utilities.

The plan, which can be reviewed at CTSenateRepublicans.com also focuses on ensuring strong oversight of utility companies to protect the best interest of ratepayers.

Sen. Gordon recently responded to the soaring costs of energy because of the utility rate-hike enacted this month. He also encouraged everyone to use his office as a resource to share their thoughts on the plan.

“I am here to work for you. Please share your thoughts on these practical solutions. I will continue this message in Hartford until we are able to bring much-needed relief,” he said.
