CHIEF DEPUTY REPUBLICAN LEADER ERIC BERTHEL SWORN-IN FOR FOURTH TERM IN STATE SENATE, HIGHLIGHTS 2023 LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES

January 4, 2023

Chief Deputy Republican Leader Eric Berthel (R-Watertown) today was sworn-in for a fourth term to represent the families of the state’s 32nd Senatorial District at the State Capitol in Hartford. He was first elected to the state’s upper chamber in a 2017 special election and previously served in the Connecticut House of Representatives.

In his fourth two-year term, Sen. Berthel will serve as ranking member of the legislature’s Appropriations Committee, Banking Committee and Education Committee; he is co-chair of the Internship Committee. The 2023 legislative session concludes on June 7.

“I am once again honored to serve the people of the 32nd District, which now includes families in Bethel and Brookfield. Connecticut can be a state that has so much to offer. We’ve chosen to live here because we know the great things that are possible. However, we must significantly change the way the state does businesses before we can realize this potential,” said Sen. Berthel.

“My priority remains the same, and that priority is a Connecticut where everyone can prosper. Middle class families have been under assault with soaring inflation on common household items, home heating and electricity. In our schools, many of our students understandably are readjusting after being outside of the classroom during the pandemic. These should not be partisan issues and I hope that my colleagues join me to advance solutions for all residents of this state.”
