Senator-elect Lisa Seminara Appointed Ranking Member of Aging, Children’s, and Human Services Committees

December 28, 2022

State Senator-Elect Lisa Seminara (R-Avon) has been appointed by Senate Republican Leader Kevin Kelly to serve as Ranking Member of three General Assembly committees, including the Aging Committee, Committee on Children, and Human Services Committee. She will also serve as a member of the Education Committee.

Senator-elect Seminara said, “It’s an incredible honor to be appointed to serve on these committees focused on representing the voices of the most vulnerable, including children, seniors, and families in need. I have committed my entire adult life to advocating for others — from my career as a social worker, to my volunteer work in special education and non-profits, to my most cherished role as a mom, and now in my role as State Senator. I will continue to work every day to make sure every individual is prepared to seize opportunities to succeed at all stages of life.”

Senator-elect Seminara is a licensed clinical social worker and a dedicated community servant who has served as a member of the Avon Board of Education. She is an advocate for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and is a founder of the Avon Special Education Parent Association.

Senator-elect Seminara will be sworn in to the State Senate when the General Assembly convenes the 2023 legislative session on January 4th.

Senator-elect Seminara was elected in November to represent the 8th Senate District, which includes the communities of Avon, Barkhamsted, Canton, Colebrook, Granby, Hartland, Harwinton, New Hartford, Norfolk, Simsbury and Torrington.
