Senate Republican Leader Kelly Announces Leadership Team, Committee Assignments

December 19, 2022

Senate Republican Leader Kevin Kelly (R-Stratford) is announcing legislative committee assignments for the two-year term that begins on January 4, 2023.  Sen. Kelly is also appointing a Senate Republican leadership team to serve as deputy leaders including State Senator Eric Berthel (R-Watertown), State Senator Tony Hwang (R-Fairfield), State Senator John A. Kissel (R-Enfield), State Senator Henri Martin (R-Bristol), and State Senator Heather Somers (R-Stonington).

“I greatly value the skills, dedication, and knowledge of each member of our new Senate Republican leadership team. This is a strong team with each deputy bringing a unique perspective to help lead our caucus to best serve the working- and middle-class families of Connecticut,” said Sen. Kelly.

“Our caucus is made up of talented and devoted individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences. I am honored to appoint each of our senators to serve on our state’s many committees where they will focus on applying their expertise to make our state a better place for every Connecticut family. The committee process is a vital part of the legislative process. It enables lawmakers to apply their knowledge and skills in areas where they are each uniquely qualified to develop policy and make a difference. In these roles, our caucus will continue working to make our state more affordable, support opportunity, and create safe and healthy communities.

“Much work lies ahead to make Connecticut a better place for everyone to live, work, raise a family, and retire. Our caucus will work to show the better way forward for our state and enhance the lives of all who call Connecticut home.”
