(Watch) Sen. Sampson Upholds Promise to Constituents: ‘No’ to Corporate Handouts (4/27/22)
April 27, 2022
Senator Sampson, upholding a long-held promise to the people of the 16th District, speaks in opposition of a measure that authorizes the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) commissioner to enter into a tax assistance agreement with an eligible aerospace company in Connecticut.
The agreement may provide the company with tens of millions of taxpayer dollars in benefits over its term, purportedly if the company meets its negotiated benchmarks. Senator Sampson cited that this agreement, privately arranged between select state and company officials, did not involve the legislature. Absent the thorough information necessary to corroborate the benefits to Connecticut taxpayers, he opposed the measure.
