Sales Tax Free Week Sunday, April 10 – Saturday, April 16

April 8, 2022

Last month, when the General Assembly passed legislation to suspend the state’s $.25 gas tax we also added a second Sales Tax Free Week this spring. The spring Sales Tax Free Week begins on Sunday, April 10, and runs through Saturday, April 16.

During this week, sales of clothing and footwear costing less than $100 will not be subject to sales tax.

The state’s annual Tax Free Week applies to most clothing and footwear purchases that are intended for everyday use. In addition to the provisions that usually apply during the state’s annual Sales Tax Free Week, the upcoming special April Sales Tax Free Week also includes the following modifications:

  • Sales of certain items of clothing or footwear primarily designed for athletic activity or protective use are not subject to tax during the April 2022 Sales Tax-Free Week.
  • Sales of wallets are not subject to tax during the April 2022 Sales Tax-Free Week

The gas tax suspension and Sales Tax Free Week are a positive start to tax relief. But I we need further, permanent relief for families being crushed by inflation.

Do you think CT residents need further tax relief?
