Kelly, Candelora Respond to House Democratic Leaders’ Comments on GOP Tax Relief Plan
April 21, 2022HARTFORD – Senate Republican Leader Kevin Kelly (R-Stratford) and House Republican Leader Vincent Candelora (R-North Branford) released the following statement in response to comments made today by House Democratic leaders regarding Connecticut Republicans’ $1.2 billion tax relief plan:
“The comments from House Democratic leaders make it abundantly clear that CT Democrats have no intention of returning the overcollection of taxes to CT families. They are comfortable with the state budget surging, while kitchen table budgets plummet. Their top priority remains government interest over the interest of working- and middle-class families. We gave the Attorney General a chance to opine on this issue and stand with us to fight for Connecticut residents, joining the 18 other states that are successfully challenging the White House and delivering tax relief – relief that CT Democrats are denying residents of our state. If the Attorney General won’t act, we must. Someone under this Capitol dome needs to speak for families who are struggling. What’s irresponsible is keeping the overtaxation of residents to bolster government itself, instead of returning it to the people who have been pickpocketed by government.”
