Letter: Sen. Miner, Rep. Harding Press CT DEEP for More Public Transparency on Housatonic Hazard Tree Removal

Senator Miner and State Rep. Stephen Harding (R-Brookfield), ranking members of the legislature’s Environment Committee, continue the call for transparency in the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection’s (DEEP) hazard tree removal project at Housatonic Meadows State Park and Housatonic Meadows Campground in Sharon.

In another letter to DEEP Commissioner Katie Dykes, the lawmakers specifically request:

  • An update on DEEP’s internal investigation in connection with this hazard tree removal and an anticipated date of completion
  • An approximate date when the Environment Committee Co-Chairs and Ranking Members may expect to receive the investigation’s findings
  • A response to Senator Miner’s follow-up FOIA request to DEEP for additional documents related to this project from Dec. 14, 2021 through present day
