Sen. Tony Hwang expresses his gratitude to Senate colleague Paul Formica on the announcement of his Senate retirement.

HARTFORD – Today, Sen. Paul Formica, the Senate Republican Pro Tempore, announced his intent to retire at the end of his current term.

“I have learned so much and treasured working with Paul Formica – he is a friend and a trusted colleague. We did great work together through the Energy and Technology committee to secure a stable and more environmentally aware energy agenda. I am grateful for Paul’s work and tutelage on raising awareness of suicide prevention and supporting those coping with mental health and drug addiction challenges.

“There has been quiet strength and resolve in his statesman leadership both at the state level and as a municipal head for his beloved hometown of East Lyme. In the time that we served together, his door was always open any time I had questions and freely shared his thoughts and wisdom. The life experiences he shared and his mentorship are memories and lessons I will carry with me for the rest of my life. I wish him health and happiness as he moves onto another season of a wonderful life which has positively impacted so many people. I will continue to count on his wisdom and counsel as a senate colleague and friend.”
