Sen. Kelly, Sen. Formica Statements on the Passing of Edith Prague

Senate Republican Leader Kevin Kelly (R-Stratford) and Senate Republican Leader Pro Tempore Paul Formica (R-East Lyme) expressed their condolences and sadness on the passing of Edith Prague, former State Senator and former Commissioner of the State Department on Aging.

Sen. Kelly said: “This is a sad day for Connecticut. My heart goes out to Edith’s family, friends, and loved ones. It was an honor to work closely with Edith on the Aging Committee and witness firsthand how she always fought for Connecticut’s most vulnerable. She was a fierce and strong advocate for seniors. She always would say that aging issues and policies are not Republican or Democratic issues. They are human issues. I learned so much from Edith about public service and living a life focused on helping others. Her presence at the Capitol has been missed, and her passing is a great loss for all who loved her and for the entire state of Connecticut.”

Sen. Formica said: “My thoughts are with Edith’s family and friends during this difficult time. Edith leaves behind a legacy of service and advocacy, especially focused on supporting each and every resident as they age. She was tenacious in her work to help all people face the challenges of life as they grow older. This is a great loss for Connecticut and our seniors. Her policies and advocacy will live on and continue helping people.”
