Kelly, Berthel, Klarides-Ditria Applaud State Grant to Support Seymour Police Body Cameras
December 22, 2021SEYMOUR – Senators Kevin Kelly and Eric Berthel and Representative Nicole Klarides-Ditria applauded the approval of a state grant to reimburse the town of Seymour for the purchasing of police body cameras and video storage devices.
The state bond commission approved the allocation of $27,000 to Seymour to support this effort in a vote on Tuesday.
“Thank you to the state for investing in the safety of Seymour residents and police officers,” said Sen. Berthel. “These body cameras are now a standard tool that enables the men and women in law enforcement to create a permanent first-hand account of every interaction so that the law is applied in a fair and just fashion.”
“Body cameras have become an effective tool to help in the protection of residents and officers and document crime scenes. I applaud the state’s investment in reimbursing our local towns and police departments for their investment in strengthening and modernizing this important technology,” said Sen. Kelly.
“Body cameras and similar recording devices are a good investment in the safety and security of both the public and our police officers and I’m pleased the Bond Commission approved this money for Seymour,” Rep. Klarides-Ditria said.
