Sen. Miner Statement on Litchfield Ribbons

November 23, 2021

Deputy Senate Republican Leader Craig Miner (R-Litchfield) released the following statement in response to a recent story in the Republican-American detailing strong community support for the five symbolic ribbons on the Litchfield Center Green to remain. The Litchfield Borough Warden & Burgesses recently decided to remove these ribbons by Jan. 2, 2022.

“The yellow ribbons on the Litchfield Center Green had previously been discussed and agreed to by the Litchfield Borough Warden & Burgesses. It seems that the new members of the Warden & Burgesses either failed to research the prior decision or don’t care about the symbolism expressed concerning men and women in the military, who everyday are in harm’s way. The ribbons represent this community’s hope for a safe return no matter where they are in the world,” said Senator Miner.
