This week’s headlines were focused on the “youth crime spree” which struck several communities along Connecticut’s shoreline. And directly impacting Southport this past week.

Senator Tony Hwang will moderate a community conversation with local experts, stakeholders and concerned citizens to better understand law enforcement and institutional safety measures that protect students, faculty, and neighborhood residents.

Another additional goal is to inform and reassure residents that there are proactive steps that every organization and individual can take to ensure safety around the community.

By exchanging ideas and feedback, we will gain a better understanding which will foster at least the beginnings of a collaborative action plan to mitigate this public safety risk and dangerous trend.
