WINDSOR LOCKS — In front of a crowd of more than 40 people at Town Hall Tuesday night, Paul M. Harrington took the oath of office to serve the town as first selectman to the best of his ability.

Standing with his wife, Abigail, and daughter, Cora, Harrington — a Republican who served one two-year term as a selectman before being elected to the town’s highest office in November— was sworn in by Sen. John A. Kissel, R-Enfield.

Kissel said it was an honor to be invited to the swearing-in ceremony, adding it was the first time he administered the oath of office to anyone.

Kissel also swore in Republican Selectman Scott. A. Storms, whom Harrington later appointed acting first selectman, role he would assume if Harrington could not serve.
