October 6, 2021Sen. Tony Hwang will be recognized this Friday, October 8, 2021 at an awards ceremony by Connecticut Yankee Council and Boy Scouts of America with the Good Scout Award for exhibiting “leadership to help inspire a better community for future generations of young people.”
Additional honorees are CT’s First Lady, Annie Lamont and Financial Journalist, Author and CEO Stacey Tisdale.
From the organizations, “The Good Scout Award celebrates and recognizes community leaders who exemplify the Boy Scouts of America’s ideals, values, character, and leadership.”
“We’re very honored to present the Good Scout Award to members of our community who embody the character, leadership and values of the Boy Scouts of America,” said Mark Kraus, Scout Executive / CEO, Connecticut Yankee Council. “This year’s recipients are extraordinary role models when it comes to a commitment to community and leadership. On behalf of the entire council and the young men and women in our troops, I wish you continued success and congratulate you.”
Sen. Tony Hwang shared, “I am extremely honored to receive this recognition from organizations who have provided so much inspiration and support to our young people in a world fraught with less productive uses of their time. My own values closely match the Connecticut Yankee Council and their parent organization focusing on public service and providing empowerment and aid to those in need. There are so many ways that one person can make a meaningful impact on their surrounding community, and the Boy Scouts provide opportunities for our youth to see and realize their potential at a pivotal time in their development. Leadership can start at a very young age, and the Connecticut Yankee Council proves that every day.”
