Sen. Rob Sampson Reacts to Senate Democrats’ Statement

“The boldness of today’s statement from the Senate Democrats is as pathetic as it is terrifying. This ‘warning’ is a clear indicator of how Connecticut is being marched into an authoritarian state. The President of the Senate is trying to intimidate people by undercutting their constitutionally protected freedoms to speak or petition their government. This is an abuse of power and an abuse of the citizens complete with Gestapo tactics. Have they forgotten that this country was founded on individual freedom and representative government?

“Of course people are upset having been under one-man rule for close to two years. Their voices are all but ignored and they have lost proper representation. Instead, the Democrats prefer to allow Governor Lamont to stand alone.

“Today’s post by Senate Democrats sounds desperate. President Biden’s gross unconstitutional overreach serves to accelerate the awareness of it here in Connecticut. Their inflammatory remarks only prove how close the Connecticut public is to realizing the extent that they have been lied to and ending this charade of a continued state of emergency.”
