Sen. Kissel Commends DOC Staff on Successfully Delivering Baby

Sen. John A. Kissel, R-Enfield, today issued the following statement regarding Connecticut Department of Correction medical staff’s recent successful delivery of a baby to a mother who had been admitted to the York Correctional Institution on Sep. 17:

“DOC staff acted compassionately and professionally and they are to be commended. This was undoubtedly a difficult and stressful situation, but DOC personnel delivered the baby successfully and it is heartening to learn that mother and child are doing well and are receiving medical care following this birth. I also commend DOC Commissioner Angel Quiros for providing excellent leadership and mentorship to his staff.  Our state respects our DOC professionals, and every day they perform courageous, selfless acts to protect others. This precious new life is the latest example of that work ethic.”

Sen. Kissel serves as Ranking Senator on the legislature’s Judiciary Committee. He represents East Granby, Enfield, Somers, Suffield, Windsor Locks and parts of Granby and Windsor.
