Henri update; Plus outage, insurance info

The following information is from a 10 am Eversource update today, Sunday, August 22:

  • Henri is now expected to make landfall in Rhode Island this afternoon as a strong tropical storm, then weaken and head north tonight into Monday morning, drifting north/northwest into western Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire this evening.
  • With this eastward shift in track, wind impacts are increased for eastern Connecticut and central Massachusetts and lessened for western Connecticut.
  • Heavy rain will gradually spread north across Connecticut today, tapering down to scattered showers after 10 p.m. There is a slight chance of isolated tornadoes west of I-91.
  • Strong winds from Henri will impact the state today into tonight. Highest sustained winds are expected in southeastern Connecticut in the 30-45 mph range with gusts up to 65 mph.
  • Coastal flooding will occur with high tide cycles today and tonight, with a peak storm surge of 3-5 feet along the entire Connecticut coast.
