A bipartisan focus on domestic violence prevention

August 16, 2021

We must never stop working to keep Connecticut at the forefront of domestic violence prevention efforts.

I was honored to take part in a bill signing ceremony last month. The legislation, which I co-sponsored, was prompted by the Jennifer Farber Dulos case.  It expands state law regarding domestic violence to include nonviolent acts like financial and psychological abuse. Under the new law, Superior Court judges will now have increased tools to recognize domestic abuse and issue protective orders when necessary.

Thanks to the many domestic violence prevention advocates who spoke out in favor of this legislation, and thank you to the governor for signing it into law.  Read more about it here.
