Shelton Lawmakers Applaud State Support for 306 Constitution Boulevard Extension and Commerce Park
June 16, 2021Representative Jason Perillo (R-Shelton), Representative Ben McGorty (R-Shelton), Senate Republican Leader Kevin Kelly (R-Stratford), and Mayor Mark A. Lauretti applauded the recent passage of the state bond package that includes the authorization of state support for Shelton’s 306 Constitution Boulevard extension and Commerce Park.
Rep. Perillo said, “It was always conceived that Constitution Blvd. South and Constitution Blvd North would be connected. This will generate economic development opportunities and create a direct travel way from White Hills to Route 8. We’re going to see hundreds of jobs and tremendous growth to Shelton’s grand list. That keeps residential taxes very low. This bond bill is just the first step to attaining this funding and we will all be working together to make the funding a reality.”
“I appreciate my legislative colleagues in recognizing the importance of this project to the local community, and I eagerly await the final decision of the Governor’s Bond Commission,” Rep. McGorty said.
“I want to thank my colleagues on both sides of the aisle for choosing this important project to receive a portion of the state’s grants-in-aid assistance for regional and local improvement projects,” said Sen. Kelly. “This project will create opportunity by building an economic development corridor and connect the Huntington section of Shelton with Route 8. I applaud the joint efforts of Reps. Perillo and McGorty and look forward to seeing this important project move forward.”
Mayor Mark A. Lauretti said, “The extension of Constitution Boulevard represents significant job growth for Shelton, the region and most importantly, Connecticut.”
The bond bill authorizes the investment in this project and is the first step in the bonding process. Lawmakers requested $5 million for the project and the final amount will be determined by the State Bond Commission before the funds are allocated.
