During the event, which was held at VFW Post 7330, 85 Davis Street in Oakville, the legislators answered questions pertaining to state government and/or legislative issues, and enjoyed the opportunity to engage with members of the community.

“We should all bear in mind the true meaning of the Memorial Day holiday. Lest we forget, this is one of our most sacred national holidays where we honor those brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice. This past weekend, we wanted to show support for our local veterans who also have given so much to our country. Thank you to the Watertown, Oakville and Woodbury communities for stepping up to do what’s right for our veterans,” said Sen. Berthel.

“Memorial Day is a holiday dedicated to remembering the brave individuals who died while serving this great country. I wanted to be sure that this important day received the attention it deserved, and that we did more than just say thank you for your service to our veterans,” said Rep. Polletta.

“I am proud at how the residents of Watertown, Oakville and Woodbury came together during this Memorial Day Food Drive to show local veterans in need that they are in fact appreciated and that the community is here to lend a helping hand if needed,” he said.

Rep. Polletta and Sen. Berthel thank all those who provided non-perishable food donations during their Memorial Dave Food Drive to help the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces.
