Fasano Statement on State Senate Election Results
November 4, 2020Senate Republican Leader Len Fasano (R-North Haven) released the following statement in response to the 2020 Connecticut State Senate election results:
“I am so proud of all the Republican candidates and their dedicated staff and volunteers. Republicans in Connecticut faced enormous hurdles this year in such a blue state. We held on in many races when all the odds were stacked against us, it’s a testament to how hard all our candidates worked. They put in the time, energy and dedication to reach voters and explain their vision for a better Connecticut.
“I am deeply saddened by the loss of Senators Logan and Bizzarro. In such a highly partisan atmosphere, where national politics have taken all the attention off state issues, Republicans were at a significant disadvantage in those districts. The people of Connecticut are losing senators who have accomplished so much and who have both worked across the aisle and advanced Republican policies that have improved our state for the better. Senators Logan and Bizzarro worked extraordinarily hard in their races, just as they have given so much of themselves to represent their constituents. They are some of the best candidates we have ever had and they performed remarkably well in their districts, but the heavily blue political make up in those districts in a presidential year was insurmountable. They have both served their districts well and their records show the type of individuals they are and will always be. They will be deeply missed as senators in our caucus and in our state.
“I also want to welcome Paul Cicarella to our caucus. Paul went above and beyond to win a hard-fought race to represent my constituents in the Senate. He stayed positive throughout his entire campaign and worked incredibly hard to earn the support of our community. He is going to be a strong and effective voice for all those he serves.
“The Connecticut Senate Republicans remain a strong and resilient caucus. We have amazing lawmakers who care deeply about our state and its people. Connecticut Republicans believe in opportunity for all people, and that is what I know our caucus will continue to fight for in the years ahead.”
