October 28, 2020

The Radiological Society of Connecticut praises State Senator Paul Formica’s advocacy of preventive breast cancer screenings and has made Senator Paul Formica a “Legislative Champion” for his strong support and advocacy of early breast cancer screenings by women.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month throughout the nation.

“Senator Paul Formica has been a strong and tenacious advocate for programs that provide assistance to women who need help with their annual mammograms. We appreciate his work in this regard and believe that lives will be saved as more women have the important imaging test,” said Michael Crain, MD, president of the Radiological Society of Connecticut.

Recent advances in Connecticut include mandating insurance coverage of additional tests for women who are at a higher risk for breast cancer due to their age or having dense breast tissue.

“I am proud to work with Connecticut’s medical community to bolster support for preventative care and a more proactive approach to health care. These advances are maximizing time and treatment options for patients, which in some cases can be the difference between life and death. Thank you to the Radiological Society of Connecticut for this recognition and I look forward to continuing this great work together,” said Senator Formica.
