A TEAM effort to help needy Naugatuck Valley residents!

October 7, 2020

In Ansonia: 1152 boxes of food – 28,000 lbs of it – was handed out to needy Valley families on Tuesday.  That equates to 24,000 meals for 980 households!

Credit goes to House Republican Leader Themis Klarides and Rep. Nicole Klarides-Ditria, who organized the successful Farmers to Families (F2F) Food Box event in Ansonia to benefit needy families in the greater Naugatuck Valley.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture F2F program was coordinated by the Friendly Hands Food Bank of Torrington Director Karen Thomas and Ralph Delbuono of Roma’s Restaurant in Oakville. Also helping out was TEAM Inc. of Derby, a nonprofit run by CEO/President David Morgan.  The boxes contained produce, meat, and dairy products.

Many thanks to state and local officials who have been participating in this ongoing distribution effort, including State Representatives Rosa Rebimbas, Stephanie Cummings, Tony D’Amelio, Lezlye Zupkus, Jason Perillo, Ben McGorty, David Labriola, State Senators Eric Berthel, and Kevin Kelly, along with Ansonia Mayor David Cassetti, Seymour First Selectman Kurt Miller, Deputy First Selectman Annmarie Drugonis, Derby Mayor Richard Dzicken, Beacon Falls First Selectman Gerry Smith, Oxford First Selectman George Temple, and Shelton Mayor Mark Lauretti.

Many thanks also to Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield representatives Zobeida Torres, Kate Hesse, and Michele DePina for participating!
