July 23, 2020

Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at Pfizer Headquarters in Groton, Governor Lamont held a press conference to announce that Pfizer will receive $1.95 billion from the U.S. government once it has created 100 million doses of Covid-19 vaccinations.  The vaccine will be tested, manufactured and available in mass by the end of 2020.

Senator Paul Formica (R-20) attended the announcement and offers the following statement:

“We live in the greatest part of the greatest state of the greatest country in the world.  Each day we wake up and enjoy a number of freedoms. Some of those are: freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and freedom to pursue our passions.

“Today we celebrated one of those passions in action.  I want to thank Pfizer and their team for their extensive research, dedication to testing their work and drive to serve human kind.

“Thank you to Governor Lamont for your leadership and focus on the very important work that goes into creating a vaccine.

“Pfizer stands as a beacon of hope, health and a return to the normalcy that made this country so great.

I look forward to having a safe vaccine available to the public so we can eradicate this terrible virus,” said Sen. Formica.
