Connecticut’s COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Resources, Q&A and Executive Orders

Over the last week there has been an enormous amount of information on what Connecticut is doing in response to the coronavirus pandemic and how those actions will impact daily life for us all. It can be overwhelming and confusing. Rumors about what’s closing can also lead to panic and fear.  I wanted to share the following information to help you keep track of what’s happening and to separate fact from fiction.

You can view all of Governor Ned Lamont’s executive orders, who they affect, and what help is available for workers and small businesses. I encourage anyone looking for information to visit:

The governor’s office has made available frequently asked questions and answers (Q&A) here.

The Latest on the Governor’s Closure of “Non-Essential” Businesses

On Friday, March 20th, Governor Lamont announced that “non-essential” businesses will have to close by 8PM on Monday, March 23rd. While this announcement led to a lot of confusion and panic, it appears that many businesses will still remain open under this clarified order.

Since Friday, lawmakers have heard from countless small businesses across many industries and their employees about why their services need to remain in operation. We brought these issues and explanations to the governor’s staff who worked with us to address many of these concerns, and today the governor issued new guidance expanding the definition of “essential” work to include many of the businesses who shared their stories with us.

You can view the full list of businesses that can remain OPEN here.

To those businesses and workers, THANK YOU, and please know that your efforts are making a difference and you have a voice. Thank you for all the sacrifices you continue to make to keep customers and workers safe.

Stay safe and continue communicating with me so I can advocate for you.
