July 23, 2019

July 24, 2019, Hartford, CT – Senator Witkos (R-Canton) hailed the recent passage of a school construction grant to aid in the renovation of Henry James Memorial School in Simsbury.  The grant of $8,301,691 was approved by the General Assembly in a special session held on July 22nd, 2019.

“I was proud to have voted in support of this project which will support this much needed project in the town of Simsbury.  The students, teachers and staff of Henry James Memorial School are deserving of a modern and efficient space in which to learn and thrive and I’m very much looking forward to this work being completed” said Senator Witkos.

The school district recently broke ground on a final phase of a 3-phase alteration to the middle school in the circa 1957 building.   Plans call for re-designed science classrooms, technology spaces, engineering classrooms, and family and consumer science spaces.

The project will also include construction of a new auditorium and additional space for the library media center.
