Senator Witkos Recognizes Memorial Day Essay Contest Award Winners

Hartford, CT – Senator Witkos recently joined State Representative Leslee Hill to recognize winners of the Memorial Day Essay Contest.  The contest, sponsored by the Collinsville Savings Society, invites students of the Canton Intermediate School and Thompson Brook School to pen an essay of “What Memorial Day Means To Me’

Awards were given out for First, Second, and Third place winners of each school.

“I was so honored to have been a part of this special night to recognize the hard work of these local students.  It is incredibly gratifying to know that our younger generations have a keen interest in being aware of the service and sacrifice of our veterans.  The Collinsville Savings Society and their President, Gary Roman, are to be commended for their ongoing support of this program and I am grateful to the teachers of Canton Intermediate School and Thompson Brook School for being so passionate about this topic” said Senator Witkos.
