Today is Connecticut Open House Day! Explore local attractions with special discounts, activities and events. Some local participants below.

• Shelton History Center
Free admission from noon until 4 p.m. View an exhibit celebrating Shelton Historical Society’s 50th anniversary and the official naming of the City of Shelton when it changed from the town of Huntington

• Beach House Grill
Open from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m., with free live entertainment from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. Free house beverage: wine, draft or drink with any sandwich, platter or entree; and 20% off return within 19 day coupon with any purchase.

• Boothe Memorial Park & Museum
Open from noon until 4 p.m., and offering free lemonade and homemade cookies.

• Christ Episcopal Church Burying Ground
William Samuel Johnson, a framer of the Constitution and first president of Columbia lies buried in Christ Church Cemetery. Costumes guides will interpret his life as well as others who are interred in the historic cemetery from noon until 3 p.m.

• National Helicopter Museum
Free admission from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.

• Sterling House Community Center Open from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Offering free tours and a tote bag for each participant, and light refreshments.

• Stratford Historical Society
Free admission from noon until 3 p.m., tours offered with costumed docent tours. Enjoy homemade cakes, cookies and beverages made from recipes from the early 1900s; walking tours of the Green, cemetery tours, and Colonial children games on the lawn.

• William Perry House
Open from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Offering each visitor discounted gift certificate for rental of the property. Also, exhibiting recent archeological finds on the property.
