Members of the Stratford legislative delegation, joined by the Stratford Mayor’s office, took the state’s new economic development commissioner on a tour of Stratford on Tuesday April 30, 2019.

Senator Kevin Kelly, Representative Ben McGorty, Representative Phil Young, and Stratford Mayor Laura Hoydick met with Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner David Lehman to tour Stratford’s Army Engine Plant, the Shakespeare Theater property, the Contract Plating Company site, the Raymark Ballfield site, the Stratford Center site, and Two Roads Brewery.

“This was a great opportunity for the new administration’s economic and development chief to learn about Stratford’s successes and our potential for even more growth,” said Sen. Kelly. “Stratford is a beautiful town filled with many people who have worked hard to support and encourage economic development and job growth throughout the entire region. The Stratford delegation looks forward to continuing our efforts to advocate for our town and surrounding communities. I want to thank the Commissioner for taking the time to visit and learn more about our community.”

“Stratford has a lot to offer and with the right investments could mean great things for both the local economy and the state of Connecticut,” said Rep. McGorty. “Governor Ned Lamont and Commissioner David Lehman should make sure we are utilizing the airport, waterways, and train station as selling points to attract new business to Connecticut. I look forward to working with the governor and his team on the many projects Mayor Laura Hoydick is working on.”

“Stratford has incredible economic potential and the delegation is pleased to have taken the first step in advocating for our town and neighboring communities,” said Rep. Young. “It is important for the new administration’s economic development commissioner to see what Stratford has to offer in order to create and sustain economic growth. I would like to extend my thanks to the Commissioner for taking time to tour our vibrant district.”

“We have many great things happening here in Stratford on the economic development and redevelopment fronts,” said Mayor Laura R. Hoydick. “This was a great opportunity to host the new Commissioner, showcase the many projects underway, and to initiate some new dialogue about partnerships with the new administration in Hartford to ensure success here at home. I appreciate Commissioner Lehman taking so much time out of his busy schedule to visit with us and really get to know what we are working on, and the critical opportunities we have. I also thank our legislators for coordinating and attending this tour.”
