Senator Witkos Recognizes Congressional App Challenge Award Recipients

Senator Kevin Witkos (R-Canton) recently recognized Avon students Dheepa and Jaya Hari at the State Capitol for being named as winners of the Congressional App Challenge for the 5th Congressional District of Connecticut.

Dheepa and Jaya were the creators of the My Med Wallet App, designed as a tool to keep an individuals medical information in one convenient place.

Senator Witkos was joined by State Representative Leslee Hill (R-Canton) to present citations to the students at a reception hosted by the Connecticut Computer Science Teachers Association.

“I commend Dheepa and Jaya on this momentous award.  Their interest in the computer science field is inspiring and a testament to the great work of the Avon school district in encouraging students to engage in this growing field.  Dheepa and Jaya represent the very best of our local students and I wish them the best of luck in their future computer science endeavors” said Senator Witkos.
