April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month, and State Senator Tony Hwang hosted the first of two distracted driving forums in Newtown on April 25th. The panel consisted of representatives from CT Department of Transportation, Local law enforcement, Mourning Parents Act (!MPACT), and Neil Chaudhary of Preusser Research Group and Fran Mayko of AAA Northeast.

The panel discussed the various types of distracted driving, the consequences, and what we can all do to prevent any further injury or loss of life, as well as what government and law enforcement can do to increase enforcement of the law.

The panel also heard questions from the audience following a presentation by Mr. Chaudhary concerning research he and his company does, outlining several statistics and historical data and more.

The second forum will take place on Tuesday, April 30th at the Pequot Library in Southport.
