Senator Hwang Earth Day 2019 Statement

April 22, 2019

Sen. Tony Hwang is a CT League of Conservation Voters Environmental Champion.

State Senator Tony Hwang released the following statement to commemorate Earth Day on April 22nd, 2019.

“Earth Day is a time for us to both celebrate the beauty of our home planet, and also to advocate for environmental sustainability and to go out and practice what you preach. It is our responsibility to promote things like renewable energy, protection of clean air and water, and fostering the recovery and growth of the natural resources we benefit from.”

“We should aspire to live every day like it is Earth Day, which is why I have made it a priority to introduce and pass legislation to protect Long Island Sound, to ban single-use plastic bags, ensure our fresh water is treated as a public good and protect it from pollutants, and encourage renewable energy production, to name a few. As an Environmental Champion honored by the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters, I am proud to be a leader of environmental protection and sustainability. Earth has been our home for thousands of years, and for this Earth Day and every day, it is important to show our appreciation by taking action ourselves.”

“Happy Earth Day, everyone. Go out and show your appreciation today.”
