Sen. Sampson Releases Statement re: AG Tong Suing the Trump Administration

February 28, 2019

Hartford–Senator Rob Sampson (R-16) today spoke out against newly elected Attorney General William Tong’s attempt to sue the President.

“Joining the other states in this politically motivated gamesmanship is already too much, but the commentary and name calling is what I am really upset about. In his press release, AG Tong says this action brings him no ‘joy,’ but that is obviously untrue. In fact, this is his dream come true, to imagine himself on a stage worthy of letting his personal distaste for the President shine through. This lawsuit is a waste of our taxpayer resources, and an excuse for the Attorney General to continue his overzealous rhetoric from campaign season. Saying that an initiative clearly designed to address the concerns of the majority of Americans who can plainly see the cost to our society caused by the failure to secure our borders is motivated by racism and hate is ridiculous. He should invest in a mirror.”

Sen. Sampson is a member of the Legislature’s Conservative Caucus and the Connecticut Citizens Defense League, a grassroots 2nd Amendment organization. He represents the 16th Senatorial district which includes Southington, Prospect, Wolcott, Cheshire, and Waterbury.
